Hardware and security
Private, European infrastructure, built for agents that never sleep
Agents that answer guests at three in the morning need hardware that is always on, fast under load, and private. That is why we are building our own infrastructure rather than renting space on someone else's, and why your data stays inside the European Union.
Where things stand today
Our production installation in Crete and our library machine in Cyprus are being set up. Until they go live, the agents run on our development systems in Chania, together with established hosted language models used under their business terms.
What kind of hardware we use
- Professional server-grade graphics cards, built for continuous data-centre use. Each one will carry large, error-correcting memory: about three times the memory of high-end consumer gaming cards.
- Open-source language models will run on our own hardware, so the everyday work of the agents does not depend on an outside provider's terms, limits or prices.
- Server-grade processors and error-correcting system memory, with redundant storage.
- A dedicated room in Crete with its own power supply, battery backup and two separate internet lines.
Why professional cards, not gaming cards
- More conversations at once. A conversation's speed is about the same on either kind of card. What differs is how many conversations a card can hold at the same time. With three times the memory, a professional card holds far more. On the same model, we estimate it serves about twice as many properties as a gaming card.
- Larger, more capable models. Our largest models fit on one professional card. A gaming card cannot hold them on its own, and splitting a model across cards slows it down.
- Error-correcting memory, which catches the rare memory faults that would otherwise corrupt an answer.
- Built and licensed for servers. Gaming cards are designed for desktop computers, and their software licence does not cover data-centre use.
The Aonios Library: a dedicated machine in a secure facility in Cyprus
- A dedicated machine. The Aonios Library will run on a machine dedicated to us, shared with no other customer, at a cybersecurity-focused hosting provider in Cyprus, inside the European Union.
- Two copies. The master copy will be kept in Cyprus. A read-only copy will be kept on our own hardware in Crete, so the agents keep working if either site has an outage.
- No business data in the library. It holds verified templates and facts that apply to every business. Your own values, rules and guest data stay in your own Workspace.
- Controlled access. Three roles: administrators, authors and client users. Two-step sign-in for administrators and authors, administration only over a private encrypted link, and a log of every edit.
How we protect your data
- Inside the European Union. Your data is processed in Greece and Cyprus, under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation.
- A written data-processing agreement with every client.
- Secrets in a vault. Door codes, key-safe codes and the wireless internet password are held by the Manager. Passwords and payment details are held in the Keymaster's encrypted vault. Neither ever appears in plain text in your Playbook.
- Your data leaves when you do. A closed account's data is deleted 30 days after closure.
Capacity
Estimated capacity per professional card (October 2026 estimate, before our own measurements). Full agent suite at peak-season load, with headroom kept free so replies stay fast. Voice calls excluded.
- About 70 properties per card on our largest models (between about 20 and 160, depending on how busy each property is).
- Several hundred properties per card on lighter, mid-size models used for routine work.
- Enterprise clients get a dedicated environment of their own.
We plan capacity for the busiest week of summer, not an average day. These figures will be replaced with measured ones.
What we do not publish
For security, we do not publish:
- how many machines or cards we run, or their exact models;
- the address of our installation in Crete.
Enterprise clients can see the details that matter to them under a confidentiality agreement.
Questions and answers about our hardware
Where is my data kept?
Inside the European Union. The agents and your Workspace will run on our own hardware in Crete, Greece. The Aonios Library will run on a dedicated machine in Cyprus. Until our installation in Crete is live, the agents run on our development systems in Chania and on hosted language models under their business terms.
Why run your own hardware instead of renting cloud capacity?
Four reasons. It is always on, with a stable power supply and two internet lines. It is fast under load. It keeps your data in Europe. And our agents do not depend on an outside provider's terms, limits or price changes.
What kind of hardware do you use?
We are installing professional server-grade graphics cards with large, error-correcting memory, server-grade processors and error-correcting system memory, in a dedicated room with battery backup. We do not publish the number of machines or cards, or their exact models.
Why not gaming graphics cards? They are cheaper.
Per card, yes, but not per unit of memory. On the same model, a professional card serves about twice as many properties, because it holds far more conversations at once. It also runs large models that a gaming card cannot hold on its own. It has error-correcting memory, and it is built and licensed for servers. The "about twice" is an estimate until we measure it.
How many properties can your hardware handle?
We estimate about 70 properties per professional card on our largest models, at peak-season load with the full agent suite, and several hundred on lighter models. We add capacity before we need it, and we will publish measured figures when we have them.
Will my agents slow down in August?
We size for the busiest week of summer and will keep about half of each card's capacity free, so replies stay fast when everyone checks in at once. Enterprise clients can have a dedicated environment.
What is the Aonios Library, and where is it kept?
It is the shared body of verified templates every agent reads before it acts. It holds no business's own data. It will run on a dedicated machine at a cybersecurity-focused hosting provider in Cyprus, with a read-only copy on our hardware in Crete.
Is the library shared with other businesses?
The templates are shared: that is what makes them better for everyone. Your values, rules and guest data are never shared. A shared template is verified only on a proven good result in real use, or when twenty identity-verified approvers from at least three businesses with different owners approve it; an Aonios author can also verify it directly. It carries none of your data.
Can I have my own dedicated environment?
Yes, on the enterprise plan for larger portfolios: your agents run in an isolated environment of their own, operated by us.
Why don't you say how many servers you have?
For security, and because what matters to you is the service: capacity sized for your busiest week, data kept in Europe, and decisions kept with your people.
